Fundamentalist Mormons of Gor

Bondage Wife book

I know it seems naοve but when I first saw BDSM erotica about husbands enslaving their wives the books surprised me. It isn’t that I have a favorable view of marriage (possibly the opposite). But childhood cultural conditioning still has part of my brain seeing the whole husband and wife thing in terms of The Donna Reed Show instead of Divorce Court.

B&D Bridal Shower book

Many men have surely wanted their wives to be their slaves:

  • To get more sex
  • Because they are lazy slobs
  • They are kinky

Hopefully the kinky men find kinky submissive women.

The polygamous Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints are in the news again. And I’ve been reading Jon Krakauer’s Under the Banner of Heaven: A Story of Violent Faith. (The book mixes the story of a few homicidal FLDS maniacs, LDS history and FLDS groups. Not scholarly but not bad.)

While looking at some BDSM cover art recently it hit me that there are probably women who build fantasies around the FLDS cults. They wouldn’t really want to be part of one anymore than an African-American who indulges in plantation role-play wants slavery revived. I know from my own inner life and the confessions of others that people create BDSM fantasies out of the least expected sources. Some are even honest enough to admit it.

The perverted imagination knows no bounds.

Comments

I once got a blog comment from a woman who said she found reading Margaret Atwood’s patriarchal dystopian novel “The Handmaid’s Tale” intensely arousing. So I imagine there are femsubs who fantasize about FLDS life.

However, I think that submissives/masochists fantasize about being unique and special, with a intimate and distinctive relationship with their dominant/sadist. Subs need to be recognized as the best slave or the worst worm, but they have to be important in the eyes of the dominant. That means the top has to spend a lot of time paying attention to the bottom.

Real authoritarian social settings work against that, removing the lower person’s distinctiveness. The real goal is to get to the point where the subordinate can be taken for granted, if not ignored.

I can’t fantasize about group settings or society where slavery is legal. It is always private even when demented.

I don’t know if this truly connects with the question. I do know two women.. both happily married, submissive and decidely kinky who.. enjoy intimacy together pretending to be “sister wives” of a polygamist husband. They style and dress for their “secret trysts.” The idea being that their attraction is one of sinful, forbidden desire. The HBO series Big Love served as the inspiration for this. They both loved the show and their private (the husbands do know)play is the result.

Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
