Master arrested for forced labor, aggravated sexual assault

I happen to know Marcus and a few of the girls he has been with. Marcus is extreme and can be a cruel master - he makes no bones about it and makes it clear what he wants and expects. No one who knows him could say otherwise.

He does, however, make certain that it is consensual. And no one who has been with him should say otherwise.

I also know Mr Marcus personally; I have for years. He is a friend of mine. True and informed consent was always his highest priority in his BDSM acts. I believe that where there is consent, there is no abuse. What two or more consenting adults choose to do to and with each other is their business. He always operated under informed consent. Always.

No one sane will argue that if there is consent there’s no abuse.

But: did the woman ask to be set free and he refuse?

Or did he make a fatal mistake in assuming that her consent to nonconsent should be taken literally.

Did the Feds bust him because they were looking for a target?

Did she turn on him because she felt guilt?

Marcus may well be the victim. But to date no one on any forum I’ve seen has done more than say they know him. But not that they know anything about this specific case.

I also knew Glenn Marcus, whose only real interest was FINANCIAL domination. His attempts at extortion, threatening women foolish enough to pose for or send him incriminating photos he would show them to their spouses or parents unless they paid him “tribute”, were well-known and something he bragged about as he and his cyber slaves trolled chat rooms in packs.

I’m ashamed that those of us who live in power-exchange lives were afraid or unwilling to police (or even shun) one of our own. The Catholic church has seen how protecting unacceptable behavior can tarnish forever the public perception of what can otherwise be a positive and beneficial relationship.

As to consent, I’m sure that SlaveMaster of Kansas had the full consent of his slaves just before he put them in 55 gallon drums.

I am a former friend of Glenn Marcus and haven’t had any contact with him for years. I knew his daughter, an exceptionally wonderful girl despite some of her fathers shortcomings, and girlfriends including Rona and another unmentioned GF who was really sweet and probably for my money, one of the best things that ever happened to Glenns life. As far as I can remember, Glenn associated with some emotionally damaged (to one degree or another) people, and occasionally enjoyed making shocking statements, he boasted often of outrageous things and always seemed to be upset when people would not beleive him. I have no doubt he sank neck deep into a lifestyle I consider distasteful, in fact, his boasting of this especially in inappropriate environments and situations was one of the major contributing factors in my putting our friendship behind us. Please note that I do not hate Glenn, but pity him. I truly feel for all his intelligence he could not control his curious compulsions completely, however, if he is the man I remember, he probably got cocky and felt too confident that consentual meant untouchable, and pissed off the wrong person one day, and is now paying the price. His tale is a cautionary tale for everyone, not just those involved in alternative lifestyles, but those who place trust in others when they are doing things they would not want announced on the 5 o’clock news. My largest beef with the media in this case is that they mentioned by name at least one innocent party, and that is his daughter, whom to the best of my knowlege had no part of this lifestyle, was not only mentioned by name, but had her career placed in the limelight and possibly in danger by irresponsible reporters who dont much seem to care whose lives they damage in getting a juicy story. My apologies to you Crystal on everyones behalf for the way you have been treated, I always thought you were a very special girl who deserved a happy and carefree life. You dont deserve any of the things I have seen happen to you through the years, and you certainly don’t deserve this. i do not know of Marcus, Sir….nor have i heard of Him…but…the way i see it is..if what i read of it is true and He has been in the lifestyle for a number of years…..then yes, He should know of the consentual rule W/we A/all go by in SSC…..that said…

I did have had dealings with GM and he tried to guilt me and told me I was nothing without and tried to get me to be a slave. He guilted me into having sex with him and I had never even seen his face. He is a manipulative monster who uses people who are emotionally damaged to get what he wants from them …money sex …etc.I am sure. I simply stopped talking to him. He was an asshole, basically. However when he go to be too much I simply walked away. I was emtionally strong enough to do that. But there were some of the women who were not and he prayed on that. Though he does say everything is consensual. He uses these women with something that is something like the “Stolkhom Syndrome”.

Take a look at the following letter from the “Government” (that is, the legal team prosecuting Glenn Marcus. They are requesting that the witnesses against Marcus be allowed to conceal their identities, denying him his right to confrontation. Get this: they’re suggesting the witnesses need to be protected from the BDSM community, as if the community were some sort of mafia that attacks people who pose a danger to their rights.

The letter acknowledges that the case against Marcus may actually pose a danger to the sexual freedom of BDSMers…

An excerpt from a Government letter dated 10/27/2006, available from public records:

The limited protections requested by the government are necessary and appropriate to protect the witnesses’ safety and well-being, avoid potential harassment of the witnesses by the press and others, and prevent undue embarrassment and other adverse consequences, such as loss of employment. [snip]

Hello all… I have been reading with some interest your posts regarding Glenn Marcus. I DO know him, personally. I have met him in person, and was involved in a fully consensual submissive BDSM relationship with him since 2003. Of course, since recent events, contact has been somewhat altered. I know full well that he did not do anything against anyones will. But I’m not discussing the case further, as I really shouldnt. Im discussing the conviction, what it means for the BDSM community, and why I feel Glenn Marcus needs our support.

The statutes he was convicted under, forced labor and sex trafficking, seem to have been originally intended to apply to women and men (usually immigrants) who were smuggled into the nation and forced to labor in a variety of ways. The women and men often are told they will be deported if they complain, and are often beaten, blackmailed, and threatened to get them to remain. The statute was never meant to cover a BDSM relationship.

As for the allegations of abuse, I feel if the govt was REALLY after an abusive man (which Glenn is not), Glenn would have been charged with assault, aggravated assault, domestic violence, battery, and rape. But he was not. And the reason for that (at least my view of it) is explained below.

This is, as far as I know, the first time these statutes have been used in this way. As a result of this conviction, now almost anything can be “forced labor”. I believe thats what the Government wants, an expansion of their powers. The prosecutor stated in response to a jury question that if someone forced someone to play tiddlywinks, that could be forced labor. That certainly paves the way for the Government to prosecute ANY BDSM relationship, or any divorce where a woman (or a man) claims the other made them cook, wash dishes, do housework, etc. Certainly where someone is called a slave, the government will be more eager to say “see, it IS slave labor”. The government will conviently ignore the fact its not actual slavery, but an aggreed upon structure by both parties.

This prosecution is a threat to BDSM. And whether you loathe Glenn or love him, he needs support or else we shall all suffer the effects of this horrid precedence setting case.

Hello Lana… I know Mr. Marcus personally. So, I know full well what the facts are in this case. And, Lana, what was presented by the prosecution was not fact, but a work of delicately spun fictions. Mr. Marcus is certainly not the first person in this nation to be falsely convicted of a crime, based on prejudices and pre concieved notions of a jury.

Lana, if this was the 1920s, no white jury (and back then, they were white juries) would believe that a white woman would willingly sleep with a black man. Thus, many innocent black men were jailed for rape, purely because consensual sex between the races was inconcievable and objectionable to that jury. I believe the same thing occured here, with Mr. Marcus’s jury. They saw the pictures, and since they couldnt believe anyone would willingly do that, they convicted Mr. Marcus despite the evidence to the contrary.

And there was more evidence to the contary than was needed to acquitt Mr. Marcus. This woman who claims she “escaped” from him and was so terrified then went camping with him and had a great time, a year after her Big Escape. That alone is enough to cast reasonable doubt. As to MY personal involvement with Jodi, (since you ask)I met Mr. Marcus in 2003. TWO years after Jodi’s Big Escape (2001) she still spoke with him on the phone, on good terms and yes I was there for some of those conversations.

Not that I ever would, but if I wanted to lie, I too could pretend to sob, and point to the images of myself on Glenn’s site slavespace and say “I was forced”. I could lie and say “he blackmailed me”. And a jury would look at those pictures and convict. And it would be a conviction based on bias and emotion…NOT upon truth.

There were tapes in which Glenn Marcus admits to holding her against her will. He also admits to threatening her, etc. How is THAT consensual BDSM?

You really need to take a look at the trial evidence, Chain. Just because you know Glenn Marcus does NOT mean you know the facts about what incurred with the victim.

You were not there, thus it is obsurd for you to post what you “think” happened as FACTS.

Lana, I dont think you know what you are talking about. I heard the tapes…did you? Or did you just hear about them? From what I ACTUALLY heard, there were no threats, no admissions of any badness. And remember, Lana, this woman Jodi after she claimed to escape from this “abuse”, went camping with Mr. Marcus and his family a year after she claimed to have “escaped”. If you heard the tapes and are still standing by Glenn Marcus, then best of luck to you. Glenn Marcus admitted to not only threatening the victim but others as well. He also admitted to holding the victim against her will, among many other things. Just curious as to when you heard the tapes? My advice to you, once again…..run, while you still can. Stay as FAR AWAY from Glenn Marcus as you can, if you value your life at all.

I “knew” GM from AOL chatrooms for years and will point out that I never met him personally. He was an ass, egotistical, sometimes baffoonish. However, he always made his views well known, often to the point of rediculousness. Could he have done what he’s charged with? Sure. It can happen to more or less degree in any relationship. It could also be a case of either: 1) revenge for some believed slight; which happens more often than anyone in the BDSM community will admit. or 2) a frabication that got out of hand to explain away past activity to a new love interest to shift the responsibility of her actions to the mean ole ogre who held her against her will. We’ll probably never know exactly what happened. Regardless of evidence presented in court. I do know that this whole situation is rediculous. Either way this gives a black eye to the community and both parties should be ashamed of themselves that it ever made it this far.
