People who desire this are not actually psychotic — psychotics may castrate themselves, but only during an outburst. This is a long-term desire for these people, possibly a type of body dismorphia (discomfort in their male bodies), or a paraphilia (a sexually nuanced obsession). In either case, the result is usually quite satisfactory to the castrated person — their obsession is fulfilled or their body image synchronized with their feelings.

Having a castration service is a great idea. castrated by choice and not because of illness or injury is, I believe, the ultimate in freedom of choice.The experience is even better if it is performed by a person who is doing it from a caring and compassionate point of view, especially if it is some one who actually likes you. My castration was going to be done by a very good friend who is a nurse, but, her mother found out she was going to do it. A disagreement ensued, her mother wanted to be involved. My friend said no and so my castration has not yet taken place.

There are a surprising number of people who desire castration for a variety of reasons; often as a sort of gender dysphoria who did not identify as male, but have no desire to be accepted as female. There are somewhere in the middle.

I am one of the lucky ones who had their castration performed safely, by a qualitfied urologist. And I hope that I certainly don’t come across as “psychotic”. Nothing upsets me more than having this label associated with our community.
