Michelle Silva aka Empress M of Enfield, Connecticut ran a BDSM website. Police responding to reports of such fearful activity as out-of-state cars seized her computers. The site was her sole source of income.
The computers are being examined at state police forensic computer lab. Sferrazza said the outcome of that examination will determine what police do next.
Silva said she obeyed all local and state laws in running the website and said the search violated her rights.
“I’m upset and I’m confused,” she said about the investigation.
Silva said customers bought memberships through her website, on which she calls herself Empress M, that let them watch bondage and domination videos on the site. …

actually i live in the town next door and read this article in the paper. Theey practicly made a whole page article on this bs charge. They were originally going for prostitution charges, but after reading the article it seems all the can really get her for is zoning charges. She had registed for a home office, not a studio for running a web site. But of well Connecticut is BS!

I have a question. How does your website generate so much income? Does it all have to do with Ad-space? If you don’t want to answer, that’s fine. I’m thinking of switching careers right now and I’m learning how to write web pages. I would love to hear from you. Keep on rockin!

She had original content that men paid for access to.
It is just about impossible to make much money from advertising unless you are a very successful mainstream site.

I thought I should respond to the first post, Empress M actually did register for a website studio and was granted a permit to run it. I was there when it happened. There is a lot of deceit and cover up among the Town of Enfield and their local police.

i actualy live here in enfield and i have met empress m and her daughter. i actualy worked across the street form were they live. honestly i think its enfield trying to clean up the streets. the towns geting rather trashy and there trying to get rid of things that bring down the class of enfield. and the north side of connecticut is very rich conservative. so ya she was steping on the line of whats legal and what isnt, but i hope this all gets thrown out. honestly tho, i bet if she didnt make so much noise, (everyone in town knows about her) then none of this would have blown up.. my opinion
