Dommes in Movies
» Entertainments
I was thinking a bit about imagery of dominant women.
It hit me that Raquel Welch (who was Hollywood’s acme of pulchritude after Monroe) as a costumed slave drive in The Magic Christian was the earliest image of a dominatrix I could recall from a mainstream movie. I’m sure there are a few exceptions but in popular movies a woman wearing a dominatrix outfit is almost always a stripper wearing a cop cap.

During my recent bout of watching so-called erotic thrillers I’ve run across a few scenes with ProDommes. But that is - with all respect to all persons engaged in sex work - just women earning money.
(Guys there are several more scenes from the movie with her you can Google for them or rent the movie. Stars Peter Sellers and Ringo Starr and was based on one of Terry Southern’s novels.)

Yeah dominant women in movies are either depicted as the ‘stripper in a cop hat’ - doesn’t do anything for me as stripping is well, a sub act.
As for the ‘mean leather bitch’ - that’s so cliche I want to fall asleep just thinking about it.
By the way who said dominant women should all be dressed in leather with a ‘zorro’ mask on their faces? Personally I find the humiliation a lot more fierce if conducted in just about any day-to-day outfit…
Common source of fantasy are the cruel teens in the train in streetwear, or that suit-clad sophisticate with her posh heels. But hey, that’s just me.

Images of masked Dommes have always seemed pretty rare to me.
I find it exciting myself: not being able to read her face.
While I like fetish clothing it isn’t a big issue for me. Manner and mood are most important.
Though Alexandra and I have a tacit understanding that what she’s wearing, especially footwear, reflects what she is or isn’t in the mood for.
Handy.

Two movies stand out. Revenge of the Pink Panther…Valerie Leon, the image is still in my head as when a youth I saw her in this film…is the ultimate Dominatrix, Tall, tight black leather and a wicked looking whip…although she is shown too little in this film…
Real Men….John Belushi picks up a woman in a bar who turns out to be a Dominatrix. She knocks him out, ties him to a rack, and whips him…although again, this scene is too short.

This costume of Rachel Welch is very erotic indeed…Sometimes it is good to see leather dommes, in perfect outfit, depends on the situation. Of course in the mainstream movies dommes used to be striptease girls wearing black, and nothing more. But that is just natural, so much can bear an average movie. More would offend people. It is the same as with historical movies. You don’t see much history. It would disturb you, by seeing that white is not always white, black is often greyt, etc…

I’ve been trying to find out who the actress who played the dominatrix in Real Men was. The IMDB listing leaves me with no clues.

I’ve never seen “Real Men” but Dyanne Thorne is listed in the credits. She was the star of the Ilsa movies, hence a likely candidate. (I’ve yet to watch an Ilsa film.)

very true. there is hardly any mainstream movie featuring a dominatrix role. the only few scenes i can recall are from the movie “The Generals Daughter” or a brief scene in “Mr.& Mrs Smith”. If anyone is aware of a mainstream movie with such content pls do share with all.

Dyanne Thorne is NOT the dominatrix in the film Real Men.

Actually there’s LOADS of dominatrix material in movies and TV-series. If, like me, you keep an eye open, you’ll start to see it quite a lot. Men have always been fascinated with dominant women and writers have played with the concept for ages.
Try the main (bad girl) actress of Golden Eye is one off the top of my head.
A personal favorite is Ms Parker in the series Pretender. In one episode she even gets a dome outfit with a whip but I prefer the strong business woman image.

Anne-Marie in The Story of O. Or, more subtly, Emma Peel (can’t recall actress’ name, sorry) in the Avengers TV series in the 70’s.

Emma Peel was played by Diana Rigg.

Dyanne Thorn played Ilsa in the three infamous films of that series … effectively costumed, except when She stripped … which was far too often, since a naked Mistress seems vulnerable to my mind’s eye … like an ordinary whore strippng for her John, rather than a Woman of Power and Mystery dominating Her male slave property.
The costume that Raquel Welsh wears in the all-too-brief scene at the end of “The Magic Christian” is an ideal Mistress outfit, except that it looks sort of cheap, apparently made of naugahide rather than real leather. However, in the context of being worn by Her, it’s just about perfect!
Anouk Aimee, in the sandal-saga “Sodom & Gomorrah,” wears a fairly standard Biblical temptress costume, but wears it remarkably well, and acts Her role memorably.
Then, of course, there is the modern film version of “She” [Who Must Be Obeyed} from the Rider Haggard novel — I forgot the actress’s name (twenty lashes, bootlicking dog!).
Even the young Elizabeth Taylor in “National Velvet” was [is!] exciting in Her jodhpurs and boots; then She grew up and starred in “Cleopatra”!
Masks? They indicate that someone wants to hide something. If Mistress fears Her slave will identify Her to the police, She should not be doing whatever She’s doing. As for masks on slaves (as seen in OWK and other videos far too often), they impede face-slapping and oral service — besides, who cares about slave privacy, anyway?
Happy New Year, Alexandria & Richard!

Pet-owners love their pets, pamper them, probably embarrass them … but always treat them as inferiors, even if that means “unable to do anything for themselves.”
A Mistress with a male human pet does much the same. She makes all the decisions. Her pet must rely on Her for food, shelter and (if any!) clothing.
The difference, respectfully suggested, is that a pet is loved and fondled, not crushed under foot. However, pets are sometimes punished — or more properly, humiliated and embarassed — for doing the wrong thing, like not waiting until She walks it outside to go to the bathroom.
In short, a human pet vs. a human slave: Slaves are whipped and dominated, worked hard and tortured for amusement. Pets are beloved but still sub-human, treated like animals nonetheless.

Masks:
On a dominant being unable to see her face make it impossible to read her mood or intent. I find that very sexy.
On a slave: symbolic removal of individuality. That also excites me.
