Warning to BlogSpot Bloggers

I’ve always thought people better served by getting a free blog from WordPress.com or LiveJournal.com but I do understand that most will go with what is comfortable and familiar. Probably Google owning Blogger / BlogSpot comforts many people.

If you’ve found something weird and surprising on a BlogSpot blog of yours or that you read this note about the Storm Worm may offer an explanation:

Miscreants behind the Storm Worm have begun attacking Blogger, littering hundreds of pages with titillating messages designed to trick visitors into clicking on poisonous links.

By now, anyone who doesn’t live under a rock is familiar with the spam messages bearing subjects such as “Dude what if your wife finds this” and “Sheesh man what are you thinkin” and including a link to a supposed YouTube video. Recipients foolish enough to click on the link are taken to an infected computer that tries to make their machine part of a botnet.

Feel free to share your feelings about Warning to BlogSpot Bloggers. Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
