Alt.com / CollarMe.Com Confusion

» In Search Of

When I wrote earlier about my intention to wait before making any effort to find someone here in Durham to do BDSM with I referenced some old profile names.

ComplexPainSlave I remembered only as something I’d deleted from CollarMe. That I’d also used it on alt.com I’d forgotten. Judging from the profile creation date I must have done that when I knew my then current relationship was dying. Then I forgot about it.

That a couple of winks appeared on alt.com right after the prior note both alerted me of the profile’s existence and that people took a look after the entry. Since it is a free account I don’t think there is a way to reciprocate with a “Howdy.” Sorry.

I feel conflicted about using the word slave in a profile. I’m not aiming at the stereotypical slave role: however you want to finagle the wording withdrawing consent is about the same as saying “no.” For me slavery is a wonderful, overwhelming emotional state.

I like pain and complex is true enough.

My live profile on CollarMe is IamDownOnMyKnees*. That was created strictly for posting on the forum, not that I’ve done that in ages. Tonight I did switch it to “looking” even though I’m really keeping that for the future. (Since I first wrote this it is at least my scratch pad profile.)

On most forums I use my real name, e.g., on Informed Consent, a site I suggested that Alexandra join. I’m not active on IC since it is UK centric. Pity, since it seems a superior site.

I may use those handles or may use my real name if and when I go searching. I figure that my legal name would both say that I mean it and also keep away the men who confuse power exchange with ‘discreet’ fellatio.

Gosh, aren’t these decisions just a damn nuisance?

( * All lower case I don’t know if the search is case sensitive. No special reason for you to know this. If you look at it you can always leave a comment here if you think something I’ve written is wrong-headed or on the mark. Working on a profile is more confusing and disheartening than I expected.)

Collarme can be a fun and productive place to meet like minded people. Be careful. While many mean well, there are some serious predators out there. The most charming posters who seem popular may have criminal histories of violence, rape, fraud. Date rape drugs are not unknown. A dirty secret in BDSM.

Yeah, I’m sadly aware of the dark side of fetish dating.

I expect I’ll have both live alt.com and collarme.com profiles. CollarMe is probably more productive in areas with large populations. Here in Central North Carolina there aren’t that many people listed there. But a huge number on Alt.

Thanks.

How do you feel?

Feel free to share your feelings about Alt.com / CollarMe.Com Confusion. Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
My thanks,
Richard
