Recon

Twice since I began my In Search Of posts it has been suggested that I try a gay male hookup site, Recon.

Recon appears to be an umbrella site embracing more specialized ones like Bondage Control and Slave 4 Master. As these venues go it is slick and attractive. And though I’m not a fan of javascript and popups, easy to navigate.

I joined but my first impression gave me no reason to think it would be more useful than, say, CollarMe. A quick check showed very few people who matched my search criteria: in or near Durham, NC, 40 or older. I doubted I’d be bothering with the site.

Checking back a couple of weeks later I was surprised.

A dozen men had looked at my Recon profile. A couple had “cruised” me (this is like alt.com’s winks). Two had sent me messages.

One guy asked where in Durham I live. Perhaps in a neighborhood he doesn’t like since he didn’t follow-up my reply.

I’ll call the other man Master Jeff. Our correspondence:

REL: Yeah, life is easier that way.
MJ: u belong on ur knees
REL: With the right person.

And dominants bitch about the way submissive people respond to profiles!

I heard no more from Master Jeff.

So Recon has potential. My biggest bitch is that I can’t post my full profile. I don’t understand the limitation since the cost of storing text is nil. Perhaps that expands with a paid account. But as it is they give you far more for free that sites like alt.com.
