Convert a Garage into a Dungeon?
» Miscellany
On taking possession of the property and seeing the garage my first thought was that it could be made into a dungeon. Not that my lover of the time would’ve agreed. (Later, after I threw him out he wanted to convert it into an apartment.)
I’ve had it cleaned out.

Gravel floor, raised platform in the back, exposed beams … Not to mention the inexplicable metal at the ceiling (both inside and outside the prior owner left lets of odd bits of metal).
I’d say it has potential. Though the lack of insulation would limit when it could be used (I can imagine limited ways to get around that but am not someone who could insulate a building).
A pity that as a young man I had no interest in learning practical skills. (Before my brief exposure showed me that university was the last place I wanted to be I’d assumed that I’d become an academic, possibly a mathematician.)
So it will certainly be a challenge to make this a place of perverse pleasures.

Actually, it would probably take less work, time, and money than you’d expect. There are simple “ready-to-go” supplies and machines you can rent in order to get such projects done quickly. Talk to the people at your local (large) hardware store about how to soundproof ad insulate. I’d say it’s a worthy investment.
Enjoy!

I’m sure you are right.
And I have a neighborhood handyman who is pretty cheap.
One thing I didn’t mention is that I’m on monetary “bread and water” for the foreseeable future.
