How About Images of Happy Dominas?

Vintage cheesecake appeals to me. The “good girl” artists of the seemingly more innocent first half of the 20th century: Vargas, Gil Elvgren, Rolf Armstrong and cartoonists like Peter Arno and Jack Cole. Not enough to buy any (I do have a couple of Eric Stanton books) but to flip through in my shop.

Brought to mind something that sometimes bugs me about ‘Femdom’ artwork: the lack of cheer.

Not that I don’t like a bitch-goddess gleam in the eye, haughty smile, lips clenched in fury. I can enjoy the normal s frisson from seeing an image of womanly hauteur.

But there are times when it’d be nice to see smug disdain replace happy smile as they command or punish the hapless male. Like they are having fun.

Those images are rare. Perhaps because - even when commissioned for a pay site - they are always created with the male audience in mind.

Likewise the men mostly look miserable or scared. (Alexandra might say a picture of me would show bafflement; my intelligence tends to vanish the more servile I feel. But I like that.) A guy smirking while he’s getting a whipping would be weird.

But when we’re lucky sometimes our strongest feeling is devotion.

Months back I posted what I called The Perfect Image of Woman Worship. I greatly reduced the illustration but part of what drew me to it was his rapt worship. That lovely loss of self that can be achieved in adoration.
