Femdom Pop Culture

After posting the prior entry and getting the inevitable lucid response from R. I had to think about dominant women from pop culture more closely.

Digging, digging into memory …

Barbara Bain of the original Mission Impossible was probably the first woman whose beauty impressed me. But as a pre-sexual boy all I thought was that she was pretty. Diana Rigg’s man appeal is indisputable: witty, able, smart she was an ideal woman in a way that - nowadays - may not be readily apparent. Her costume in the famous Hellfire Club episode probably raised my blood’s temperature a degree or to but she always seemed to ideal to lust after.

Who …

Raquel Welch. Way back when she must’ve been the preeminent post-Marilyn Monroe American sex symbol. Tall (I have no idea really, she seemed it), high cheekbones, a cascade of hair, amazing breasts.

But it wasn’t just her perfection exemplification of heterosexual male erotic tastes. She - I never saw one of her movies - had a sense of power. And there was her famous appearance as a dominatrix in the Magic Christian: she must have been the first woman that I saw holding a whip.

My sexuality is too complicated to recapitulate here: let us say there was a time when I was while not unaware of was indifferent to the physical beauty of women. At least I didn’t bother with it: there were easier options.

And the appreciation of a woman as a sadist, as domineering had to cut into an overwhelming to idealize women in an almost Victorian fashion. I tended to see woman as pure in a remarkable naοve fashion.

Eventually came the day when I imagined myself worshipping, enslaved by, tormented at the hands of a woman.

And …

Oh, this is so embarrassing. Oh, yes it is.

A very young Heather Locklear. In whatever image I saw of her she looked so very smug and there was the way she arched her back. That arched back is important: the erotic power of pride. It enabled the fantasy of being a mere nothing.

Cybil Shepherd in Moonlighting. Some women wear miniskirts that taunt and mock you.

Er - this is pretty embarrassing as well - Pamela Anderson in Barb Wire. But that must have been the idea. Her garb screamed dominatrix. But only there. Otherwise she’s just a hyper hormoned, highly siliconed pin-up..

And there was one of the OWK women. Her supposed name I don’t recall. She wasn’t pretty. If anything she looked like a vampire in real need of fresh blood. But her whole manner conveyed such disdain. You felt that on a good day she’d treat you with contempt. If she were tired. Otherwise she’d make sure you suffered.

Any pop bimbo can be converted into a Domme given a man with a will to do it.

Even, say Carmen Electra. All it takes is a photo shot in just the right way. Maybe it’ll include fetish objects like boots. Mostly she needs to look proud and not merely an object to be ravished.

It is all about attitude: not physiognomy.

While I like the sneering voice of a singer like Moloko’s Roisin Murphy I don’t really connect D/s directly with music.

Nor can I connect female domination with books. Not even comic books really, though there have been a few nice images of women holding whips over the decades.

This is pretty much all the comes to mind for my Femdom pop culture confession.

Mistress Raquel Welsh is THE Goddess … no question about it. And She is in Her element in “The Magic Christian.”

Also wortgh checking out is the TV guest appearance She did years ago on “Mork and Mindy” as a sci-fi Dominatrix from Mork’s home planet. I still remember Her line: “What is more important than to be My slave?” as she dommed at bemused Robin Williams.

Beautiful, that’s all.

How do you feel?
