Real torture chair once used by the Roman Catholic church. How’d you like to have one of these?
The other night I was reading about the Jesuit priests who snuck into Elizabethan England. When they were caught the English government wanted them to rat out their brethern and accomplices.
Frequently that meant torturing them. Hanging them by their wrists was a common first stage. Evidently an hour or two - in real life instead of my fantasies - could be all it took to break the men. And the effect might leave their hands swollen and unusable for days.
Reading about real life torture: it can just kill my masochism.
I remember a few years back when it was revealed what the government of this country was doing to people suspected of terrorism. There were men who claimed they wish they could be as lucky as the victims.
While there were acts performed on the prisoners down there that match my fantasies I only felt sick to my stomach.
I’ve never dreamed of living in a slave society. Or be locked up and brutalized by military police.
Just can’t imagine matching my voluntary masochistic desires with the suffering of millions of innocent people around the world.

Some people are just thick. If they can’t tell the difference between brutal and loving torture they’re either very thick or very desperate.

“If they cant tell the difference between brutal and loving torture theyre either very thick or very desperate.”
Not that there’s anything wrong with NON-LOVING “torture,” of course. Way to go with the black and white thinking. Since when did love become a prerequisite to the enjoyment of another’s suffering?
Or is the problem that it actually hurts, for real, as opposed to sanitized mental “anguish?”

The theme of this site is consensual erotic sadomasochistic play. Love - of course - is not required.
But if you enjoy thinking of, say, political prisoners’ suffering you might want to look at the Google Group alt.torture.

I don’t think my comment was unreasonable, given the context it was in. A masochist would be idiotic to hand himself over willingly to a torturer who cared not of his mental or physical well-being.
Perhaps I should have typed “caring” or “safety-conscious” instead of “loving” but I gave up trying to write bulletproof opinions a while ago.
Oh, Sanitized Mental Anguish? Well three cheers for being more ‘hardcore’ than us ;P
But seriously, it was not my intent to criticize Dominants or submissives not in a loving relationship. Just in case there was any doubt…
